No packet can be accepted with items missing.
All applications must be signed by the property owner (not the builder); the only exception is power of attorney. Fill out on screen, then print and sign — signatures must be original or electronic, not faxed or copied. Make check or money order payable to Bloom Township. Cash is not accepted.
Setback requirements for an accessory structure
Twelve (12) feet from each side. Side setbacks are 25′ if the accessory structure contains living quarters; see Section 808.4 for dwellings as accessory uses. Fifty (50) feet from the front. Five (5) feet from the rear.
Accessory structures consist of outbuildings, storage buildings, barns, detached garages, covered porches, covered decks, and other structures having a roof overhead.
Application for Accessory Structure
Per Bloom Township Zoning Resolution 412–414, all permits are conditioned upon commencement of work within one year of filing. If work is not completed within 2 years of issuance, the permit shall expire. Applicant has received a copy of Bloom Township Zoning 808.3 (Accessory Structures) and agrees to comply.
Accessory structures — Zoning Resolution 808.3
Requirements for accessory structures as amended by the Bloom Township Zoning Commission and the Board of Trustees. Section 808.3 is amended as follows:
- A. It shall not contain or be used as a dwelling unit.
- B. It shall not exceed twenty-five feet in height.
- C. It shall meet all yard requirements of the principal use, except that: (1) an accessory structure attached to the principal building shall comply with the requirements applicable to the principal building; (2) accessory structures not part of the main building shall not be located closer than ten (10) feet from the main building, may be built within five (5) feet of the rear lot line, and must conform to the front yard building setback line and side yard width. An accessory building not part of the main building shall not occupy more than 30 percent of the required rear yard.
- D. Sun porches that are fully enclosed must meet the same requirements as an accessory structure.
- E. No accessory structure shall be erected within any required front yard, including gazebos and picnic areas. Corner lots and unusual lots are handled at the discretion of the Zoning Inspector.
- F. For lots less than three (3) acres, the total area for all accessory structures shall not exceed the total heated gross floor area of the principal structure. The number of accessory buildings for lots under 3 acres shall not exceed 3 structures, excluding solar panels, covered porches, and decks.
